IMPROVED BACKWARD DISCHARGE SYSTEM FOR A LOADER
TECHNICAL AREA
The present invention relates to a backward unloading system for a body, such as is found in trailers, trucks, containers, semi-trailers, dump trucks, etc. for storing and transporting solids as freight. More particularly, the present invention relates to a rear discharge system in which the cargo can be pushed out at the rear of the body through a slidingly mounted front section of the body.
BACKGROUND
In the technical domain of dump trucks, a discharge system is currently used that works by tilting the body that contains the cargo so that the cargo slides out of the body under the influence of gravity. Although currently mainly used, there are a number of drawbacks to such tilting dump trucks, the main drawback of which is a safety issue: a tilted body can be unstable due to heavy wind gusts or a non-horizontal or unstable road. Furthermore, the tilting of the body can be time consuming and a tipping discharge system based on the tilting of the body imposes severe restrictions on the size and maximum load of the body and / or the load, as well as the strength of the supporting structure of the body.
Many accidents can be avoided and a significant reduction in unloading time can be achieved by using a tipper unloader or system that works by pushing the cargo out through the rear of the body. A good unloading device is described in European patent EP 2 634 042 A1. This document describes a body for transporting solids, comprising a left body wall, a right body wall and a movable front section, all three of which comprise an upper part, a middle part and a lower part, said body comprising a discharge device, said unloading device comprising at least one coupling means, at least one gripping means and at least one driving means, said coupling means being mounted lengthwise
BE2017 / 5616 along said left and / or right body wall within said body, said gripping means being mounted on an outside of said front section and engaging the coupling means, said drive system being connected to said gripping means, wherein said middle portion of said cargo box walls comprises a longitudinal coupling recess comprising an overhanging portion, said coupling means being attached to the middle portion of said left and / or right cargo box wall on or under said overhanging portion. The coupling means may be rollers or a chain or rack into which a bearing of the gripping means can engage to push the front section and the load backward. The overhanging part under which the coupling means are mounted largely prevents dirt from getting on top of the coupling means. However, the present inventors have found that dirt on the remainder on the coupling means cannot be completely avoided. Regular cleaning - however less frequently than in prior art systems - remains necessary, especially if the body is used to transport specific types of cargo that stick to the coupling means. Cleaning is usually done manually. If regular cleaning is not carried out or not carried out properly, the rear discharge device may malfunction.
In order to solve the problems of the prior art, in particular the problems related to the rear discharge device according to EP 2 634 042 A1, the present invention provides a rear discharge system which avoids the problem of collecting dirt and / or that can be easily cleaned and / or that allows automated cleaning.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a body comprising a rear discharge system for pushing cargo out of the body through a rear end of the body, as further specified in the claims and below. The present invention also relates to a rear discharge system for a body.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The loading box (1) according to the present invention can be used for storing and / or transporting freight. It includes a left wall (2) and a right wall (3), both comprising an upper part (T), a middle part (M) and a lower part (B). The middle part of the left wall has a longitudinal recess (4) on an inner side of the left wall and a corresponding longitudinal protrusion on an outer side of the left wall; the middle part of the right wall is provided with a longitudinal recess (5) on an inner side of the right wall and a corresponding longitudinal projection on an outer side of the right wall. The body comprises a bottom wall (6) that connects the bottom part of the left wall to the bottom part of the right wall.
The cargo box includes a movable front section (7) for pushing the cargo out. The front section is slidingly mounted on the upper part of the left wall and the right wall.
The body further comprises a rear discharge system (8) for pushing the cargo out of the body through a rear end of the body. To this end, the unloading system is operatively connected to the movable front section and may be configured to move the front section to the rear end of the body, pushing the cargo out, as well as moving the front section in a forward direction, for example, after the load is pushed out, to its original position near the front end of the body.
BE2017 / 5616
The cargo box, and the unloading system, according to the present invention are characterized in that the unloading system comprises a left cable (9) located in the recess (4) on the inside of the left wall between a rear end (11) of the cargo box and the movable front section, and a right cable (10) located inside the recess (5) on the inside of the right wall between the rear end of the body and the movable front section, connecting both the left cable and the right cable to the movable front section so that when the rear end of the cables is pulled, a force is applied to the front section directed towards the rear end for pushing the load out. More recesses (20, 21) and corresponding protrusions may be provided on left and / or right walls, each of the recesses may include the left or right cable. The recesses protect the cable from possible damage, eg, during loading of the cargo box, and also allow the cables to be connected to the extreme sides, ie the left and right side, of the front section to reduce the risk of bending from the front section to the side walls of the body and also minimizing gaps between the front section and body walls when unloading the load. The use of a left cable and a right cable within the cargo box cargo area further solves the problem of debris collection, makes the cargo box and discharge system easier to clean and also allows for more automated cleaning. In addition, cables can be easily replaced when broken or when replaced for upgrade or maintenance.
The discharge system also includes one or more actuators (12, 13) configured to pull the said cables. Preferably, at least two actuators are provided, a left actuator (12) for applying a tensile force to the left cable and a right actuator (13) for applying a tensile force to the right cable. The discharge system preferably comprises control means for checking the one or more actuators. The actuators can be hydraulic actuators, electromechanical actuators or a combination of hydraulic and electromechanical actuators.
The discharge system also includes a return mechanism for applying a force to the movable front section in a forward direction. In a preferred embodiment, at least one of the actuators is
BE2017 / 5616 configured to pull on the left cable and / or the right cable, a two way actuator configured to pull on said left cable and / or right cable when used in a first direction and to apply a force on the movable front section in a forward direction when used in a second direction.
The front section of the body includes:
- a left overhanging section (14) overhanging the upper part of the left wall and comprising a surface (16) closely following at least an upper part of the outside (17) of the left wall (2), and
- a right overhanging section (15) overhanging the upper part of the right wall and comprising a surface closely following at least an upper part of the outside of the right wall (2).
The left overhang section and the right overhang section hereby provide stability for the movable front section against tipping during unloading of the cargo and provide stability to the left wall and right wall against warping during unloading of the cargo. Tilt here refers to the phenomenon that the orientation of the front section changes with respect to the longitudinal direction of the body, i.e. the front-rear direction. The tilting phenomenon can usually occur when pushing out a heterogeneous load, with left-right pull-out resistance being asymmetrical, forcing other forces to be applied to the left cable than to the right cable around the front section substantially in the same orientation when unloading the load. Although the overhanging sections may provide stability against tipping, the discharge system preferably includes controls configured to control a left pull on the left cable and a right pull on the right cable, controlling the left pull and right pull to control the front section moves substantially not warped while pushing the load out. The control means can operate in a number of ways, but the control means is usually configured to control the one or more actuators in such a way that a difference in pulling force between the left cable and the right cable can be obtained, so that the difference in longitudinal position of a left side of the front section and a right side of the front section is minimized. The control means preferably includes one or more sensors configured to provide information indicating the longitudinal position of the left side of the front section and
BE2017 / 5616 from the right side of the front section. For example, these sensors can detect the amount of left cable and the amount of right cable that is present between a reference point and the front section, or these sensors can directly detect the position of the left side of the front section or the right side of the front section by a distance measurement (e.g., by a laser point distance measuring sensor) or by other direct or indirect measuring means.
In one embodiment, the return mechanism includes a left return cable between the movable front section and a front end of the cargo box, preferably within the recess on the inside of the left wall, the return mechanism comprising a right return cable between the movable front section of a front end of the cargo box, preferably within the recess on the inside of the right wall, where both the left return cable and the right return cable are connected to the movable front section so that when pulling the front end of the return cables, a force is applied to the the front section facing the front end to return the front section to the front end of the body.
Here, the left return cable is preferably connected to the left cable to form a left surrounding cable surrounding the left wall and / or the right return cable to form the right cable forming a right surrounding cable surrounding the right wall and the discharge system a or multiple actuators operatively connected to the left surrounding cable and / or the right surrounding cable in two directions for applying a force to the forward section in the reverse direction for pushing the load out and in the forward direction to return the front section to the front end of the body. Preferably, a left bi-directional actuator is configured to apply force to the left surrounding cable, and a right bi-directional actuator is configured to apply a force to the right surrounding cable. Due to the bi-directional operation of the actuators, the surrounding cables can move the front section to the rear end and to the front end of the body depending on the actuators operation. The surrounding cables are preferably run through a set of at least two pulleys, one of which is front
BE2017 / 5616 end pulley at the front end of the body and a rear pulley at the rear end of the body, and an actuator configured to drive one of the front or rear pulleys, preferably while the other of the front or rear pulleys includes a tension mechanism to ensure that the surrounding cable always remains at or above a predetermined tension.
In one embodiment, the discharge system comprises at least one reel (18, 19) for winding the left cable (9) and / or the right cable (10) and for pulling the left cable and / or right cable during the unloading of the cargo, said reel being preferably actuated, e.g., by hydraulic or electromechanical actuators (12, 13).
The discharge system preferably includes a left reel (18) for winding the left cable and a right reel for winding the right cable (19).
In one embodiment, the discharge system comprises at least one return reel for winding the left return cable and / or the right return cable for pulling the left return cable and / or the right return cable during the return from the front section to the front end of the body . The discharge system herein preferably comprises a left return reel for winding the left return cable and a right return reel for winding the right return cable.
In a preferred embodiment, the discharge system comprises at least one set of pulleys guiding the left cable and / or the right cable from the rear end of the cargo box to a fixed point, and said at least one of said actuators of the discharge system cylinder configured to move at least one of the set of pulleys, preferably horizontally, with a pulling force applied to the left cable and / or the right cable to move the front section in a reverse direction for pushing out cargo, preferably wherein said unloading system comprises a left set of pulleys for guiding the left cable and a right set of pulleys for guiding the right cable, and a left hydraulic actuator for moving at least one, and preferably at least two, of the left set of pulleys for exercising a
BE2017 / 5616 pulling force on the left cable and a right hydraulic actuator for moving at least one, and preferably at least two, of the right set of pulleys to apply a pulling force on the right cable. By moving the one, two or more pulleys along which the cable is guided, it is possible to limit the maximum length of the hydraulic cylinder to substantially 1/2, 1/4 or even less - depending on the number of pulleys that can be moved - of the length of the body. This is similar to a block and tackle system, where the actuator here operates on the pulley or pulleys and not directly on the cable.
In one embodiment, the body and / or the discharge system comprises control means configured to control a left pull on the left cable and a right pull on the right cable, the left pull and the right pull being controlled such that the front section substantially does not move tilted when pushing out the load.
In a preferred embodiment, the unloading system includes a gearbox at or near the rear end of the body, the gearbox comprising a left shaft with bearings and a right shaft with bearings, the left shaft in operation connected to the left cable and the right shaft in operation connected to the right cable so that the left shaft is configured to pull the left cable and the right shaft is configured to pull the right cable, with the gearbox configured to apply a left torque to the left shaft and a right torque to the right shaft, left torque and right torque are checked so that the front section moves substantially non-tilted when pushing the load out.
